This CD is the result of a tour in Denmark and Sweden in Feb 2018. Our featured guest musicians from New Orleans, Chloe Feoranzo and Jason Marsalis both represent an important part of New Orleans’ music and culture. Chloe is part of the ever growing and thriving scene of young musicians playing Traditional Jazz in the city, where she is a leading exponent with her excellent clarinet playing. Her lovely vocal style can be very lyrical and emotional, but she also shouts out the Blues. Jason Marsalis is an exponent of New Orleans’ own Marsalis family of musicians, which represents the epitome of home-grown New Orleans Music. He is one of the top drummers of the world, playing and swinging in a way that is uniquely his own. He combines a multistylistic approach that fits the band so well and transforms it at the same time. His variety of groves, delivered with immaculate technique, can be heard and studied here. Morten Gunnar Larsen from Norway is one of the world’s leading piano players in Ragtime and Classic Jazz. Hans Ingelstam and Jens Kristian Andersen are both outstanding Scandinavian musicians with a perfect musical taste and technique. The repertoire is a wide field of today’s New Orleans Music, leading from Mardi Gras, R&B, Swing and Ragtime to Ballads, Latin, Choro, Gospel and even a taste of Hip-Hop. Norbert Susemihl, has played and studied New Orleans Music since the 70s, and has been living and performing part-time in the Crescent City and Europe since 1978. Our thanks go out to all the Jazzclubs involved and especially to Ingrid and Finn Amorsen from Seaside Jazzclub who made this tour possible by arranging the core concerts.
